Groundbreaking of the new Ranier De Mandel Aquatic Center, Saturday, April 22, 2017. The centerpiece will be 25-yard-by-34-meter pool, named the Townsend Crosthwaite Pool. The NCAA-certified pool will be equipped with 1 and 3-meter springboards. Attached will be a circular recreational pool for general use. The De Mandel Center — named in honor of a lead gift from the late Ranier De Mandel ’25, will be built between Kemp Stadium and Campus Road, just north of the Culley Athletic Facility on what is now a parking lot. The project includes the expansion of the McKinnon Family Tennis Center.<br />
Groundbreaking guests include: donors Jennifer Townsend Crosthwaite ’84 and Barry Crosthwaite ’80, President Jonathan Veitch, Director of Athletics Jaime Hoffman, Christian Arndt and Stefanos Polyzoides of the Pasadena architectural firm of Moule & Polyzoides, Senior Philanthropic Advisor and Executive Director of Principal Gifts Mitchell Spearman and Oxy swim and dive and water polo coaches and players and Oswald.<br />
