Occidental College hosts the Oxy Food Conference, an annual meeting and conference for the Agriculture, Food and Human Values Society (AFHVS)/Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS). The event ran from June 14-17, 2017 and was organized by Oxy associate professor of sociology John Lang. This was the first time Oxy hosted this conference.
More than 500 food scholars converged for one of the discipline’s largest international conferences and the chance to discuss everything from sustainable agricultural and fisheries practices to the cultural significance of Basque-American “picon punch.”
