Donovan Dennis ’16, a geology major from Great Falls, Minn., presents his talk in Hameetman Science Center room 202 called, “The Liberal Arts on Ice: Stories, photos, and lessons from a summer field season with the Juneau Icefield Research Program” in which he details his summer spent traversing more than 150 miles of the Juneau Icefield, a complex of glaciers stretching from the Alaskan panhandle into British Columbia, to reconstruct ancient temperature and climate records by measuring oxygen and hydrogen isotopes present in samples drawn from the rapidly shrinking glaciers. He shared photos, stories, showed some of the gear he used and his research, plus the benefits a liberal arts education. The talk was on Sept. 18, 2015.
