Classroom photos from General Physics II Laboratory in the Hammetman Science Center room 108 with Igor Umanskiy, Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor, Physics. April 12, 2018.
The lab is simply called "Lenses". The students investigate how to determine the focal length of a converging lens. The apparatus is called an "Optical Bench" and consists of an incandescent light source along with a lens, an imaging target and a screen upon which to focus the image. By projecting the target through the lens onto the screen at varying distances the focal length of the lens can be determined.
